Dinner Review - Pozole

Tonight my family ate pozole. Pozole is a soup from Mexico. It has chicken broth with pork chunks and some hominy in it. Hominy is a kind of corn. It is good. On the top of the soup we put napa cabbage and a little bit of lime juice. And we put avacados on it. My favorite thing about the soup was that it tastes good. On the side we had salad with asian dressing on it. So we had food from two continents, Asia and North America. We had pears and chocolate chips for dessert, but only if we ate all our dinner. I was the first one. My brother was the second one, and my sister was the last one to get dessert. We had a good dinner and dessert. I give this meal two thumbs up.

Friendly's - Restaurant Review

My favorite things to eat at Friendly's are the choose-your-own-toppings ice cream sundae, the mini cheeseburgers, and the hot dog with fries meal. Twice my parents have let me get the big kid's meal. Then I chose the three mini cheeseburger meal with the waffle fries. That was yummy. When I get the choose-your-own-toppings sundae I choose crunched peanut butter cups, crushed butterfingers and crushed up oreos. Sometimes I get chocolate sauce.

Sometimes the waiters put pickles on the side to eat. I like pickles on the side.

I give this restaurant four thumbs up (I have to borrow my sister's thumbs.)

Baked Potato

My mom told me that I was old enough to bake potatoes in the oven today by myself. My mom told me how to bake the potatoes. First, I ripped off pieces of aluminum foil. Then I got the potatoes out of the big box of potatoes that came from our garden. I chose eight big potatoes. Mom scrubbed them and sliced 4 in half because they were too big. There is a shiny side on the aluminum foil and a dull side. You put the potato on the shiny side and then you fold one side on the potato, then the other side, then the other two sides. You get out a fork and poke the potato 10 times. Then you toss it in the 500 degree oven.

When the potatoes were baked, we mashed them with our forks and put cheese, sour cream, and broccoli on them. I ate one and a half potatoes. My sister ate two. We will save the rest for spanish tortillas. Those are SO YUMMY!!

We had sweet carrots on the side. I didn't like them very much, but we had to eat them because my brother picked a whole bunch from the garden without asking and we had to use them. I like the carrots better uncooked.

I give this recipe two thumbs up.

Crunchy Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwich Recipe

Take out two pieces of bread. Then get a knife and crunchy peanut butter. Then spread the crunchy peanut butter on one piece of the bread with the knife. Get out a banana and peel it. Then get out another knife (not the one you used for the peanut butter) and slice the banana into circle pieces. And then put the banana slices on the piece of bread that has peanut butter on it. Put the other piece of bread on top. Then eat it.

Variations: This sandwich tastes good with raisins in it, honey, jam, and apple butter. (It does not taste good with pickles or mustard.)

Dad's Pancakes - a Review

Yesterday Dad made whole wheat pancakes for breakfast. He made his own flour in the wheat grinder and then added eggs, baking powder, oil, milk, sugar and salt. And then he poured the batter onto the hot griddle and when the pancakes were nice and brown on one side he flipped them over and he waited for the other side to do the same thing. Then we put butter and syrup on them and started to eat them.

My brother Jacob got the biggest pancake because he helped set the table. It was HUGE. He couldn't eat it all, but then my dog, Kai, stole it from the table and ate it all.

I ate 6 pancakes. My dad only ate 5.

Oatmeal Recipe

First what we do is get a plain oatmeal packet and a Maple Brown Sugar oatmeal packet. Pour both of them into a bowl. Put 1/2 cup water in the bowl. Put it in the microwave for 1 minute. Take it out and put on the table. Pour milk into the bowl. Mix it and put it in your tummy.

This is a good recipe for kids because it is healthy and kids can make it by themselves.
